I was four-years old when the Eraserheads first came out and I didn’t start listening to them until my brother brought home a copy of Cutterpillow. Ten is too young an age to appreciate and fall in love with an odd-sounding quartet whose songs were nothing I could relate to, but Ang Huling El Bimbo captured my pre-adolescent heart.
Getting to the Eraserheards reunion concert last Saturday turned into an almost-epic adventure for Drew and I and save for a few bumps (like Drew losing his phone right when the band opened with Alapaap and my having to wrestle with a hundred people for water), it was a remarkable experience. There have been enough complaints written about how badly produced the event was; Ticketworld clearly misled us with the map of the venue they posted on the site, as there was no mention of VIP and SVIP sections. I’m sorry if I expected to get more out of the 1,300 I shelled out, really, but never the mind. It was enough to see hear live for the last time (but let’s hope not) a band whose music greatly made up the soundtrack of our formative years.
I really wish I could post some badass pictures from that night, but I have none. Instead, I shall show you how just how far (away from the stage) my monies could get me:

Shower faucets, I mean, the crowd.
I’d post the video clips I took but they’re all very Blair Witch Project, seeing that I couldn’t stop swaying, shrieking, singing, and jumping up and down.

Hi, my name's Helga Weber and welcome to my personal site. I'm 24. My first socio-political scandal will happen at the age of 35 and will include men, sushi, an African country, and lots of money. My lover is the greatest.

I plan to make an epic post about this. Best concert ever.
Correct. Best concert ever- that didn’t finish… until they do a part 2!
And why the heck were SVIP and VIP tickets not for sale? We, the uber loyal fans, have the right to be VIPs in their reunion concert- people who know all the lyrics to all the songs they performed!
I was actually making up lyrics to some of the songs. Hehe.
Srsry need a part 2. So much love that night, except for the people I was battling with over at the water booth.
Yup so much love. It really was a reunion concert- reunion of the fans and the band.
Yeah, part 2 really needs to happen. ASAP. Can’t get eheads songs out of my head since the concert. Still having goosebumps whenever I watch the Alapaap video I took.
I KNOW! Nobody knew the lyrics to Hey Jay and Kaliwete sa SVIP.
Yeah! Most of those in the VIP and SVIP know the band, but they don’t KNOW the band and their music.
I swear, if the concert finished, I wouldn’t have a voice until today because I know all the lyrics to the songs they (and will- based on the Set List from their mailing list) performed.
FYI,
We’ve got the SVIP tickets because were fans of e-heads since they started so basically we KNOW the band and their music.
see yah in part2 :p
Next time they should make knowing the lyrics to every Eheads song the basis if one should be at the SVIP or Patron. :)
Did you cry? :P I did not go because I might cry. lulzz.
I didnt, I was waiting for Minsan :(
I know a lot of people who went to see Eraserheads live.. and after the concert, one of my friends said “get well soon, Ely.” on plurk. I thought she was just being fangirl-ish for saying that coz I thought Ely was sick WHILE performing.. I didn’t know he was rushed to the hospital! Kawawa naman :s
I would’ve watched if I had someone with me. Sana Raymund really is saying the truth that there would be a repeat. He said that on a MYX interview. I WOULD come see that. At least now I have a chance. I hope so…
My kuya’s a badass rapper so he listens to Bone Thugz and Harmonehh instead of Eraserheads. That’s why I don’t really like them back then.
Yes, the nostalgiaaa’s just irresistible when you get to watch the concert.
:P
I’m still mentally kicking myself in the head for failing to watch this concert waaaah!
Oh man, just imagining seeing a band I was listening to as a kid seems like it would be such an awesome experience. I’m glad that you got to go! :)
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a part II (but only after Ely’s fully recovered!). The band never made it official, but they’ve all said they’re willing. Good enough. :)
I didn’t get to watch — I only watched videos online. And I totally cried. :) <3
Man, I haven’t went to a concert in soooo long, it’s so sad. Anyway, glad you enjoyed yourself and LOL at you adding the paid link in!
i was in the same area as you! only i was closer to the stage by a few feet i think. the refreshment stands were crazy so during the break, we went out for drinks and a little grub. we all know what happened after. :(
I’ve never heard of Eraserheads before. *investigates*
ERASERHEADS.<3
Never was a fan, I honestly prefer Parokya over EHeads, but I did enjoy listening to the songs from Bonifacio High Street hehe… twas fun hearing them sing Kailan live :)
i missed the whole thing!
