THINGS I BUY BECAUSE THEY’RE FUNNY.

Found these two tonight while buying a very unhealthy cup of Nissin’s Yakisoba and a very unhealthy bag of chocolate-covered chocolate Knick-Knacks at the Mini Stop next to my office building:

San Mig Coffee with Collagen Pro-Beauty

Coffee with collagen! “I didn’t even know you could ingest collagen!” Liz exclaimed (I think that’s what she said, I was too busy giggling in my mind), when I showed her. Neither did I, and that probably makes me a tad ignorant (but seriously? Collagen in my coffee?!) as this isn’t anything new (google: “coffee with collagen”). It just wasn’t mainstream until now.

PS: According to Photoshop, this sachet measures 3.5×6 inches and contains a measly 8g of coffee mix. Dear San Mig Coffee, is that really necessary? How about cutting down on your plastic packaging?

Lifedrink Papaya fruit drink with glutathione

I’m not a fan of papaya (the texture disgusts me and it would take a lot of squeezed lemon/calamansi juice or condensed milk to make me eat it) and the thought that there are people out there who actually like the fruit blows my mind. I was about to ignore this bottle of papaya fruit drink (seriously?!?!) when I noticed the last line: with glutathione.

Holy hell, that’s hilarious (like Tennessee injury lawyers lol).

A 355mL bottle contains 30mg of this glutathione magic.

LOL who cares about genetically-modified foods? no matter how unmodified your raw materials are, all these add-ons to the final products makes it all moot XD

Glutathione is an antioxidant naturally found in fruits, vegetables, and even meat. Glutathione-fortified fruit drinks aren’t supposed to whiten your skin, but instead aid in the breakdown of toxis substances in the body. It also serves as a preservative for beverages.

I have those collagen containing coffee from Singapore, I didn’t know that SanMig has them. I’m gonna look for it in the grocery.

There’s also this drink called Alo Youth, found in 7-eleven that has 500 mg. of collagen. I’m not sure of the effects though…

The glutathione in the papaya drink is basically wasted as you cannot “take” glutathione, only your body can “make” it.

Drink the drink if you like, but don’t count on the glutathione benefits.
