WINNING A DSLR FROM FIZZER.PH.

Three hundred fifty five days into my Project 365 and two cameras later, I finally have a dSLR.

About two weeks ago, I joined fizzer.ph’s first/Twilight contest: take a Twilight-themed picture of yourself, make it your primary photo on fizzer, and get friends to vote for your photo. Up for grabs was a Canon 450D + kit lens.

I was so in.

The photo I submitted:

Helga Twilight

You can’t see it cos it’s small but I’m actually ~*~sparkling~*~ heh. I dusted my face with some shimmery bronzer I’ve had for ages (good thing I didn’t throw it out).

With about 12 days left in the competition, I wasted no time campaigning for myself. I got a little over 400 stars in less than 24 hours! I had to start over, though, as my initial photo needed some editing but I got those votes back (and more!).

To everyone who signed up and voted for me, to everyone who helped spread the word, to everyone who got their friends to vote for me: I am very very thankful. You d00dz have no idea how much I appreciate it. I am a very giddy girl now hrhrhrhr. I can’t wait for Wednesday night (start of the holidays, end of my job search LOLJK) so I can finally sit down and spend some quality time with Baby Girl. I want and need to learn everything about her!

(Yes, I name my things. Yes, my 450D’s name is Baby Girl. My Powershot Pro1 is named Bad Boy and the boyfriend’s dSLR is named Big Boy. They both needed a little sister.)

Anyway, photos!:

I look like a gremlin. Christian from fizzer handing me the box!:

WHO DOESN’T LOVE PLANTS VS ZOMBIES?

Quick update as I am currently preparing for our office Christmas party while researching on pleasanton motorcycle accident attorney… stuff.

Hrhrhrhrhr. Brrrraaaaaains.

This year’s office Christmas party theme is obviously Plants vs Zombies. For some reason, the Big Kahuna made Ade Christmas committee chair and Madz, Liz, Gino, and I the organizers. Gino and I were put in decorations and look!: we turned the office into a kindergarten classroom:

Here’s Gino cutting out the fence last night:

A photo of Peashooter I was working on:

Ridiculous how this office doesn’t have a decent color printer but yay, arts and crafts!

What we originally wanted the place to look like (Claren worked on this):

Sadly, we ran out of time for Balloon Zombie so Football Zombie is all by his lonesome =(

I’m dressing up as Conehead Zombie tonight, photos to follow!

KUHA MO: TAKE A PICTURE. TAKE A STAND.

Win a Nikon D3000 DSLR. You could take pretty sweet photos of north myrtle beach hotels with a badass camera like that. From Globe Tattoo’s blog:

They say a picture says a thousand words, and this, my friends, is your chance to spew thousands upon thousands about the 2010 national elections is no exception. There’s no better way for others see your point of view than to take a snapshot of what you think should be changed, and what issues are important to you on the road to the elections.

Are you up for the challenge? Here are the contest mechanics:

1. Take a photo using your camera phone of any object/event/person that you think encapsulates the theme: “National Issues facing the 2010 Elections.”
2. Without any post-processing (no editing or image enhancements), upload your photo to Pixlink by sending your photo as a MMS. To send your photo, compose a multi-media message, and attach the photo together with the phrase MMS KUHAMO. Send the MMS to 2988. (P2.50 per MMS upload.)
3. The contest runs from December 9, 2009 to March 9, 2010, and is available to all Globe Prepaid and Postpaid subscribers.

Each entry gets a chance to win a Nikon D3000 DSLR or a Nokia 6300 Camera Phone, and a scholarship to a Photography course at the STI Center of Arts.

Click here to see all the details and check out some of the shots.

“Kuha Mo” is a new campaign by Globe and STI to help people understand the issues confronted by the Filipino voter on the road to 2010. It may be a picture of hunger, poverty, corruption, or any issue YOU think is relevant. It may also be an image of family, education, and volunteerism. All we need from you is a snapshot of what you think are the issues we should face and address through the 2010 national elections.

Want to share your views on how to change the country for the better? Take your pictures, and upload them now!

Fun stuff!

MIKEY GETS MARRIED, NEW ACQUISITIONS!

My friend, Mikey, got married yesterday. For those of you who have been around the internet long enough, you might remember an epic series of blog entries called “The Atrocities of Friendster” that circulated the world wide webz some years ago. Yeah, that’s his doing. Our dear Mikey has come a long way since his days of internet dickery (doesn’t mean he’s any less of a dick now, though). Congratulations, fattie!

My camera doesn’t do well (it actually does HORRIBLY, ugh) in low light conditions so I was only able to snap a few photos at the reception before giving up:

Mikey and his bride, Maffy. His expression is so funny, like a pleading puppy.

Liz, Lauren, Anne, and Noelle. Noelle hosted (along with Bim), the three other ladies battled (loljk) for the bouquet.

Anyway, the event called for formal attire; the men were asked to don barongs and us ladies long gowns. Long. Gowns. The horror. Happily, Mikey allowed knee-length dresses which still sucked for me (as most my dresses fall a few inches above the knees because I look horrid in anything longer than) but whatever. It’s his wedding.

Always the procrastinator, I scoured the nearest mall for my dress a few hours before the wedding. As expected, I missed the church ceremony and ended up meeting my friends at the reception. What I wore!:

Helga Weber black dress

I actually wrapped a twisty around each strap as they were too thick and cut in a way that made me look really top heavy. I’m planning on bringing the dress to the neighborhood seamstress and having the straps altered to look like that permanently or I could just buy some black ribbon and do it myself. And Christ, I had no idea it was so freaking hard to find a knee-length dress. These things should be easy, like finding outer banks vacation rentals! Hrhrhrhr.

I also got two new pairs of shoes!

black and silver stiletto heel

black studded heels

I’m going back for a pair of peep toe studded ankle boots on Sunday.

FIVE REASONS WHY YOU WOULDN’T WANT TO DATE HELGA.

I got this from Alex who got it from another friend of hers. I have been meaning to write this list for a couple of weeks now, hoping for some help from the boyfriend (lord knows I find excuses for my flaws that I am aware of) but he apparently can’t think of five reasons not to date me. Or perhaps his ignoring my question was just his way of not breaking me like a stack of dainty glass tiles, heh. Anyhoots:

1. I am incredibly needy and clingy, like Bella Cullen. Oh yes, I just compared myself to one of the most annoying characters to have ever been written. It’s all true, too.

2. I smoke and drink a lot and it’s going to be a hard habit to quit (which I will get around to, eventually. I’ve managed to cut down a little on both, though, so yay me). I say this because the boyfriend doesn’t smoke and only drinks occasionally. If he didn’t love me, I’d say this would make me undateable to him hrhrhrhr.

3. I am very visible online. But then, if you’re not okay with me blogging about you, I wouldn’t want to date you.

4. I don’t go to church, I avoid family gatherings, I sometimes hold kittens in higher regard than some/most humans. And I know this is such an overused adjective, but I am kinda very moody. Sometimes, it feels like perpetual PMS.

5. I have crazy friends.
