Defying Skin Dehydration Challenge: Day 1 + A Giveaway From Neutrogena!

I drink a lot of water. When I say a lot, I mean at least six liters a day. I should probably go see a doctor about that because it can’t be normal to always be this thirsty!

Anyway, I was always under the impression that if not for the amount of water I drink each day, my skin and body would probably be in worse shape (got more vices than Miami!). I believed that, up until a few months ago when I learned that these supposed benefits of drinking water are actually myths.

If it’s true that drinking water doesn’t do much for your skin… then I guess I’m just lucky that my skin isn’t so terrible (no need to look for the best acne treatment), what with all my bad habits! In fact, my skin scored a 60 on the moisture sensor (40-70 is normal). Weird, I honestly expected to score an 80+ because I tend to oil up like crazy!

Lunch at Restaurant 101

Last Saturday’s Discover Cuisine event ended with lunch at Restaurant 101 where we were treated to a three-course lunch. Restaurant 101 is Enderun’s application restaurant, thus the name. Cute, noh?

Snaps From The Weekend: Discover Cuisine at Enderun Colleges

There are a handful of things that can force me out of bed before noon on a Saturday; to name a few: the beach, an angry cat, reading new colonetix reviews, and food. Especially fancy food. And food was the reason why I was out of bed by 8am last Saturday morning.

My friend, Charles, and I headed to Enderun Colleges at McKinley Hill for a cooking demo by Enderun’s French executive chef, Marc Chalopin.

The invite said we would learn how to make bouillabaisse, a traditional Provençal fish stew.

You (Sorta) Asked For It!: How I Bleach My Hair

One of the most common questions I get asked (besides “Yo gurl, y u so fine?) is “How did/do you bleach/dye your hair?” It’s no secret that I’m a cheapskate and if there’s one thing the internet has taught me, it’s how to be somewhat self-sufficient (that, and not to trust the things people who bleach and color their own hair say). I haven’t had my hair dyed by a pro since I was 12 and if I had the guts to cut my own hair, I’d probably never set foot inside a salon again. Alas, I am not stupid adventurous skilled enough.

Anyway, I thought I’d put together a quick (and hopefully detailed) entry on how I bleach my hair. Please keep in mind that I am not a professional so don’t come bawwwwing to me if you decide to do what I do and end up with orange hair, patchy hair, fried hair, or a burned scalp (this has never happened to me). Feel free to ask me questions, though, and I will try my best to answer them (I promise to google and not pull my answers out of my ass :P).

Since I’m doing this “tutorial” on impulse, there won’t be photos. So here’s one of a cute guinea pig to make up for that:

High Maintenance Hair

This Monday wasn’t off to a good start: I almost tripped down the stairs while rushing about this morning. I managed to catch myself and avert disaster (and a few ouchies) when I somehow tripped on my house slippers as I was putting my coffee mug in the sink. It went flying off my hands (almost hitting the barcode scanner in the process) before landing on the floor in pieces, leftover coffee splashed everywhere.

Then I realized I had thawed the wrong chicken for lunch and that cost me an extra ten minutes of cooking and about two inches extra of oil.

I was sufficiently pissed, muttering angrily to myself and the heat (at seven in the morning, are you kidding me???) didn’t help at all.

Thankfully, that was the worst of it (I hope…). Now let’s talk about my hair! Here are a few photos I snapped last week:
