Special Effects Burgundy Wine

After roughly three weeks of tequila sunrise hair, I got tired of the blonde and decided to go dark. I wanted to keep the blonde longer but the roots were bothering me and the color was getting dull/dirty. I went for Special Effects in Burgundy Wine this time around: a red with a lot of purple tones.

I think it looks slightly more purple in person (or that could just be my imagination). In hindsight, I wish I had gotten a bottle of Special Effects in Pimpin’ Purple (and maybe the best testosterone cream), too, though I’m not sure how my skin tone would fare in such a powerful color. I’ll never know ’til I try it!

I still have Cherry Bomb and Blood Red left to try (plus half a bottle of Burgundy Wine and Candy Apple Red) and some pink and white Decolor dyes (aka super cheap coloring powders) that I got from Quiapo a few weeks ago.

My birthday was yesterday! I had a chill, non-celebratory, and food-filled day. Thank you to everyone who greeted me :) This particular message from my friend, Mr Mordo, pretty much sums up how I feel about myself so I thought I’d share it here (instead of subjecting the internets to my long-winded affectations):

Belated happy birthday! ^_^ I wish I could pull off red hair, sadly my skin looks even greener (with envy, probably) even when I just try on red wigs.

Happy Birthday, Love! I dig the color but you’re right, purple would be fun too.

What are your plans for the cut?

      Thank you <3
I plan to grow it out a bit (until the top part stops sticking out, maybe 3 inches?) and then I'll be shaving the side again!

Belated happy birthday! I find you truly awesome. You inspire me to make adventurous choices—even if it’s just hair color.
Speaking of hair, can I color my hair immediately after bleaching?

    • Reply Helga June 3, 2011 at 1:50 pm

Hi, Ela! Yup, you can! I give my hair a day to rest in between bleaching and coloring, tho :)

To be frank, I really liked the blonde look on you better.

But the wine color is definitely growing on me.

IKR, I want the blonde back!!! In 2 weeks, maybe.

You are the cutest girl! I was looking around for dye swatches and found your blog. My hair is also shaved like this on the side. Trying to get the courage to go bright red. You make it look so ridiculously good!
