Let’s Have A Picnic!

Is there anything more quaint and youthful than an afternoon picnic? I think not! Picnics make for good, wholesome fun and it’s a shame my friends and I don’t have picnics more often. I mean, the last time I went to one was in 2008 (when I still had dark, curly hair and still wore flipflops in the city eep).

Sam, Sanya, and I took advantage of the long weekend and organized a little picnic on Monday. Originally, we were supposed to have it at Parks and Wildlife just outside Diliman but it was a bit too rundown and crowded with children so we ended up at the UP Sunken Garden.

Sam’s text message read: Sanya said picnic-wear! I have no idea what that means. Floral, frilly dresses? Oversized hats?

SM Accessories headband, thrifted white lace dress, thrifted high-waist yellow shorts (my favorite shorts ever), Shoe Room flats, Accessorize bag.

This bag I picked out at the Accessorize All About Bags event is a new favorite. Florals and polka dots (and houndstooth!) are my favorite patterns; florals because they’re so pretty and feminine, polka dots because they can be super cute and fun. In the past, I wore my Cath Kidston red polka dot bag with practically every outfit. Unfortunately, I had to retire it so I’m glad for this “replacement”. It’s not as loud but it’s just how I like my bags aka a contrast to any outfit! I can’t stand matchy-matchy things. Plus, it’s roomy enough to hold my dSLR, lunch container, wallet, and make-up kit!

Here are more photos from the picnic:

Misha, Sanya, Sam, and Joaqui.

Fancy faux-silverware. Those are plastic utensils!

Notice the cat? Misha named him Dumpling.

We didn’t have a tripod so Dumpling was my stand-in.

It was basically a hipster picnic with my friends in the presence of a hipster extraordinaire.

haha! I actually picked up Nugget in UP. He was so tiny that he fit in my jacket pocket. Seriously didn’t expect that he would be this big. :D

Picnics for me meant gorging on “manly” food (aka. endless BBQ + beer) cuz we usually have it during our “Jungle Terrain” Airsoft games.

Gorgeous bag! Accessorize really has lots of beautiful things in their stores. I particularly like their branch at Rob Place Manila. :)

The faux silver utensils are too cute. :)

I’ve enjoyed quite a few picnics in Sunken Garden during my college days, but nothing as glamorous as the one you just had. Maybe it’s time I plan one with my friends, cute outfits and real picnic food and all.
