New From Neutrogena: Neutrogena Deep Clean Blackhead Eliminating Line

Neutrogena Deep Clean Blackhead Eliminating Line

Did you know that blackheads are the number two skin care concern among Filipinas? In high school, I was so fascinated with a classmate’s blackhead-infested nose that I would sneakily and creepily stare at it and wonder why I didn’t have those black dots on mine. I obviously did not know how fortunate I was… am. Luckily, I have never had to deal with those pesky little things (whiteheads and the occasional period pimples are another thing, though)!

Pimples vs Whiteheads vs Blackheads (sounds like a really bad indie band name) aka The Science of Blackheads

Pimples are formed when sebum (oil produced by your skin) mixes with dead skin cells, dirt, or make-up, the combination of which clogs pores. Bacteria and dirt then start to grow within this clogged pore. If the comedone stays below the surface of the skin, you will notice a white spot on the surface of your skin. This is what we commonly call a whitehead. But if the comedone is open, the sebum, which contains the skin pigment melanin, is oxidized from exposure to the air and turns black/brown in color. This is what we call a blackhead, and thus starts that unhealthy habit of violent scrubbing, pore-squeezing, and frustration with blackheads.

Since the dirt, oil, and oxidized melanin is within the pore, to eliminate them, it only makes sense that you have to completely open the pore to purge out the blackhead.

For ladies who suffer from blackheads, praise your lucky stars because Neutrogena has a solution for you!

Neutrogena Deep Clean Blackhead Eliminating Line is a simple 3-step solution that promises significantly clearer and blackhead-free skin in two weeks.

STEP 1. Neutrogena® Deep Clean® Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub: This is a gentle scrub that helps remove dead skin cells and aids in the unclogging of pores. This helps to eliminate blackheads and prevent their return for clean, smooth, healthy-looking skin.

STEP 2. Neutrogena® Deep Clean® Blackhead Eliminating Warming Treatment: Here is where the innovative science of Neutrogena® works at its best. While your skin is still wet, rub the Warming Treatment on the area where there are blackheads. Upon contact with the skin, you will instantly feel the Treatment warm up to 40°C! This will open up your pores for easier blackhead removal so that you can scrub out those blackheads. Massage in a circular motion for 20 seconds, then wash off the Treatment. As you wash off the Treatment, you are also washing off some of the blackheads!

STEP 3. Neutrogena® Deep Clean® Blackhead Eliminating Cooling Toner: The final step cools down and calms the skin so that the pores constrict to their normal size, now free of blackheads.
200ml / P295.00

And as a special introductory promo, the entire Blackhead Eliminating range is on sale for only PHP790 from now until the end of 2011. That’s like getting the Scrub (valued at P255) completely free! This innovative and effective new blackhead solution is exclusively available at Watson’s.

I almost wish I had blackheads so I could try this out! I’m not greedy, tho, so I will be giving away a 3-step kit to someone who really needs it. I’ll set that up later this week so stay tuned :)

Hey, Helga! This question is totally off topic but I’d really appreciate your answer. What’s that liquid foundation you use? Can’t seem to find your blog post about that. And how do you use it? I mean, do you apply foundation powder after? THANKS!!!!!!

I don’t use liquid foundation! I did try Maybelline’s, though.

Johnson and Johnson, the makers of Neutrogena, tests on animals. :-( They’re listed on PETA as one of the companies that do test. :-(

I know :( J&J has stated that they don’t test their personal care products on animals but I wish they’d be more specific
