behind the scenes

Meet Montana!

(Yes, I name my things and assign them a gender; what’s it to you?)

I finally got her last Friday! She’s super pretty.

I happily retired my five-year old Vaio (named Veronica Mars) which has been giving me a lot of grief the past two years. It still amazes me that she managed to last this long, really. She’s super slow (1.5G of RAM, a ~70G hard drive) and her keyboard was starting to fail but she soldiered on… with the occasional BSODs that would throw me into fits of rage. I have also come to dislike Windows, ever since I started using Mac back in 2008. Mac OS is really something else and I don’t think I’m ever going back to Windows.

Montana the MacBook Pro and Veronica the Vaio.

Montana is a 15-inch mid-2010 MacBook Pro with 8G of RAM (Photoshop CS6 Beta takes ONE SECOND to boot up) and a 500G HD. She is the fanciest thing I own and I never thought that I could actually miss an inanimate object but that’s how I feel right now lol. My only complaint is that she’s running the wrong kind of Lion (the guy my boyfriend bought her from offered to install Lion Beta/developer’s release *RAGEFACE*); I have to erase my hard disk, revert back to Snow Leopard, and then upgrade to Lion via the App Store. I’m hoping to get that done over the weekend.

Next on my list of things to buy is a proper desk.

This foldable round table (with its many cigarette burns) needs to go. I need something with shelves! Compartments! Drawers! I also need a USB hub, a Mighty Mouse, gardening gifts, and a cooling fan. I still haven’t decided on whether or not I should get a bag for Montana, too. Boyfriend sent along this Speck bag (in Restart Greyscale Pixel) and though it’s not exactly my style, I like its subtlety. I mean, it doesn’t grab your attention, right? So hopefully, it won’t attract the attention of potential snatchers and muggers, heh.

(I know things have been a bit quiet around here lately. I haven’t really found the time to sit down and blog properly which is kind of bad because I have a sizable list of things I need to write about. I’m hoping to have some time this week so I can get to that.)

Finally!! Although not on the wrong Lion part. I totally sleep with my MBP, haha.. and because you have so much HD space you will just download and download and download until it’s not enough :( this MBP is barely 5 months and I’ve already used up more than 300gb of space.

Congrats on your new Macbook Pro! :)
I have one too, I bought it in November 2009. It’s my first Mac. Too bad I chose one with 2 GB of RAM, which sometimes aren’t enough. I needed at least 4 GB, I guess. I still use Windows for some programs that don’t work with OS X.

I used to name my computers also (until my current ones). If I had gotten the pink smart cover with my iPad (that I am typing this from) I think I would have to call her Pinkie Pie-pad. So yeah, totally not judging.

I feel such a loser. I think I’m the only one who’s not using Lion.

Lion isn’t great. You’re not missing much. But congrats on the new toy!

I’m so envious of your new toy. :)

All my musical instruments have names and genders. I even have a gay flute named Herbie. :)

Nice MBP. But I’m actually more impressed with your stash of Cadbury Creme Eggs you got there. Nice work.
