(Yes, I name my things and assign them a gender; what’s it to you?)
I finally got her last Friday! She’s super pretty.
I happily retired my five-year old Vaio (named Veronica Mars) which has been giving me a lot of grief the past two years. It still amazes me that she managed to last this long, really. She’s super slow (1.5G of RAM, a ~70G hard drive) and her keyboard was starting to fail but she soldiered on… with the occasional BSODs that would throw me into fits of rage. I have also come to dislike Windows, ever since I started using Mac back in 2008. Mac OS is really something else and I don’t think I’m ever going back to Windows.
Montana is a 15-inch mid-2010 MacBook Pro with 8G of RAM (Photoshop CS6 Beta takes ONE SECOND to boot up) and a 500G HD. She is the fanciest thing I own and I never thought that I could actually miss an inanimate object but that’s how I feel right now lol. My only complaint is that she’s running the wrong kind of Lion (the guy my boyfriend bought her from offered to install Lion Beta/developer’s release *RAGEFACE*); I have to erase my hard disk, revert back to Snow Leopard, and then upgrade to Lion via the App Store. I’m hoping to get that done over the weekend.
Next on my list of things to buy is a proper desk.
This foldable round table (with its many cigarette burns) needs to go. I need something with shelves! Compartments! Drawers! I also need a USB hub, a Mighty Mouse, gardening gifts, and a cooling fan. I still haven’t decided on whether or not I should get a bag for Montana, too. Boyfriend sent along this Speck bag (in Restart Greyscale Pixel) and though it’s not exactly my style, I like its subtlety. I mean, it doesn’t grab your attention, right? So hopefully, it won’t attract the attention of potential snatchers and muggers, heh.
(I know things have been a bit quiet around here lately. I haven’t really found the time to sit down and blog properly which is kind of bad because I have a sizable list of things I need to write about. I’m hoping to have some time this week so I can get to that.)
