I wasn’t planning on dyeing my hair a different color any time soon because I really love being a pearly blonde. However, I can only have the same hairstyle for so long before I start jonesing for a change. Yesterday, I took out a bottle of Special Effects Cherry Bomb that I’ve had sitting in my kitchen cabinet (next to a list of Occupational Health & Safety Technician Jobs) for nearly nine months and took the plunge.
Okay, not really. I was actually a bit hesitant because I know Cherry Bomb is a super intense, loud red and I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off. My two concerns were the color not matching my skin tone and… well, I really wanted to keep the blonde! I managed to coax myself into doing it and figured I could go for a tamer pink my mixing Cherry Bomb with white conditioner.
Guess what? I squirted too much of the dye in the bowl. It completely slipped my mind to put in one drop at a time and instead let out a loooong squeeze. I had already mixed in half a bottle of conditioner and the mix was still a vibrant pink! I’m not going to lie: I was mortified!
The color is louder and more vibrant and clownish in person; I don’t know why it looks like a proper candy pink in these photos (auto tone and auto color are the only Photoshopping I did). You can watch this short video to give you an idea of what it really looks like. It’s crazy bright and a real attention-seeker.
The color is sort of growing on me but I’m still going to try to fade it a bit faster (by shampooing and washing my hair with hot water everyday or every other day) to get the pink I want. I’m just not used to this neon-ish color!
I intend to go back to blonde eventually (I still have two bottles of toner and a bottle of Clairol Shimmer Lights coming in) and I’m already a bit scared of getting all this red/pink out of my hair.
It’s actually quite cute (even the super loud version). I love that your recently played tracks are “Cherry Bomb” over and over again.

Pink hair really does look good on you. Yes, it’s a little bit too bright but I’m sure, judging by the Flickr photo of your’s, it’s a little more faded by now. Looking forward to see more pictures of your pastel/faded pink now. ;)

dyeing my hair atomic pink this week and im barking nervous.. you kinda pulled it off imo~ ^_^ i might just wear hats if i think it attracts too much attention while commuting!
