behind the scenes

2012 Goals and Projects

Happy New Year, everyone! I know I’m late but that’s because the last few days leading up to the new year were a bit crazy (obviously, a ton of alcohol was involved). I hope everyone had a blast ringing in 2012! I know I did and Tara said it perfectly when she said we ended the night by dying.

As with blog tradition (I missed 2008, though), I am writing down my resolutions/goals/game plan for the upcoming year.

Learn how to manage my time properly, focus, and be more motivated, productive and organized. Most of the time, I feel like I have so much going on when it’s really just Facebook apps keeping me busy. I’m kidding (sort of). I need to trim the fat; this means less Castleville (my Facebook game of the moment), less TV show marathons, and less oversleeping (or sleeping, basically). I purchased a planner recently (and actually started using it last night) and downloaded the Evernote app to help me out.

Find a new office job. This is a bit tricky as I am currently juggling three jobs— one is an office job and the two are done online. I am unwilling to give up two of them because to be frank, those two alone are enough to support me so I can make do without a good old 9-5. Eventually, I would love nothing more than to work from home but I also don’t want to pass up on other opportunities and possible career growth in a different industry. I know this is all vague (I don’t want to jinx it!).

Travel. Currently, I have the following lined up: Tagaytay this month, Singapore in February, and Cebu in March. My goal is to re-visit Sagada and travel to two new destinations within the year: one local, one abroad (Cambodia in November, hopefully). This means I have to learn how to save money and have a job that allows me such freedom.

Go on another sugar detox. I did this last year and was successful, save for the cutting out alcohol bit. I felt and looked fantastic and I don’t know why I stopped. I might start this today.

See an entire workout program through the end. I have started a number of workout regimens and have always failed in keeping up with them. I am going to put a stop to that this year and actually pull through with one. Ripped in 30, take two.

Be a better blogger. Figure out what direction I want this blog to take. This will entail a big clean-up of posts and categories. I’m a bit iffy about this because I like having the last six years there but I also want to streamline this site. I guess I will need to focus on which categories I want to bring to the spotlight and take it from there. In a way, this will help in guiding me on what to write about in the future.

Come up with a fresh blog layout/look. I would also like to come up with a proper tagline and logo some time this year.

Take on a new photo project. Take better photos. I have a Canon 450D and have not been using it as much as I should (and the way I want to). Another Project 365 is out of the question because I just don’t have the time for it. I want to go back and improve on self-portraiture but I also want to branch out and do something else. This year, I am definitely getting myself an external flash.

Be more creative. Add more charm and purdy to my life. It could be anything! Designing more, taking prettier iPhone photos for Instagram (my username is helgatheweber), buying a Fender Telecaster and learning how to play the guitar, or decking out my planner in stickers and glitter or learning a new program.

That’s it! Looking back, I feel like the later parts of 2011 really started looking up for me and I intend to keep that going. I’m not sure what it is about me, but I tend to stagnate and that is the second thing I would like to avoid this year (number one would be an injury, heh).

Do you have any goals for 2012? Link me! I’d love to read them.

I use Evernote, too! I love it but it has limitations :( You can’t access it on your iPhone whenever there’s no internet connection. I hate how I can’t write offline notes.

like most of your goals here (most because I either can’t relate to the others, like the workout program… Good luck though!). Me goals on my blog were not exactly life-changing…. I should reevaluate my life.
