I can’t believe it’s been almost a month since the NAPBAS! The photos I took from my trip are still sitting in my iPhoto, silently chanting “We want to be on Facebook! We want to be on Facebook!” Some time this year, I promise!
For our second day, we were to be treated to a mini guided tour of Kuala Lumpur. Kaith and I were up bright and early for the breakfast buffet.
Our first stop was Istana Negara or the old Kings Palace. Much like The Mansion in Baguio, tourists were not allowed to venture beyond the gates. I thought it was a bit pointless but I didn’t mind getting my tourist on and snapping photos to let the internet know that HELGA WUZ HERE.
After King’s Palace, we headed to Plaza Tugu Negara or the National Monument of Malaysia. The sun was kind of harsh (I forgot to bring sunscreen) and I really had no idea what we were doing there or the significance of where we were (what happens when you tune out the tour guide) so I just sort of took irrelevant photos. If this was a class on being a proper tourist, I would have failed.
Lunch was to be had at KLCC at the Petronas Towers. Here is a photo of everyone trying to get a photo with the structure in its entirety in the frame.
After lunch (I forgot where we ate but Kaith and I split a spicy tuna pasta with salad), we headed to Cocoa Boutique. Photos weren’t allowed inside but it was okay; nothing special, just boxes and boxes of chocolate. By this time, I was dying to head back to our hotel in Putrajaya so I could be all cinematic and smoke a cigarette while having a nice, long bath before it was time to get ready for dinner and cocktails.
While the other bloggers headed to Pavilion for dinner, the finalists and winners were to have dinner and drinks at View Rooftop Bar at the GTower Hotel. I loved it there! We had such a gorgeous view of Kuala Lumpur from the deck. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a tripod on me so I wasn’t able to take proper touristy photos (excuses, excuses).
Back inside, Carlos said something about there being a bartender serving award-winning drinks. Anyway, I got pretty blitzed that night, thanks to the open bar. View was serving this vodka-ginger concoction that couldn’t seem to get enough of me (heh) and I wasn’t about to be rude and tell the drink “No, you are barred from this body!”
View was such a blast, especially since we had the entire bar to ourselves! Next time I’m in Kuala Lumpur, I am definitely visiting the place again.
