Dyed my hair with Crazy Color Sky Blue last night on a whim. Not particularly bananas about it and I verily regret it but… #YOLO. I don’t even know why I did it since I was mega happy with my Twilight Sparkle hair but the spirit moved me and I guess we all make mistakes sometimes. Better blue hair than blue lips from asphyxia amirite!!!
As usual, HBC didn’t have any bleach powder in stock (had the sense to call stores before heading out) (what.is.up. with that????) so I had to make do with craptastic ShineMoist bleach. It does a real shitty job at lifting color and at best, turned my black roots into a… muddy yellow. No bueno.
Blue can be a bit tricky because if your base isn’t light enough, it will just turn greenish. I toned my hair using Wella Color Charm in Lightest Ash Blonde but my hair still wasn’t pale yellow, which I expected (but it helped!). After the first rinse, I had to re-apply undiluted Sky Blue dye to the green/yellow-green parts and Violette and Lavender to the yellow streaks just to cancel out those colors. I then added a the leftover Violette on some patches towards the front to give it a deeper blue.
I bought the toner from Amazon SO NOBODY ASK ME WHERE I GOT IT FROM. It was around 3USD, if I recall correctly, and one bottle should be good for 2-3 applications (you will need developer). Of course, I didn’t realize that until I dumped the entire bottle’s contents into my mixing bowl lol. What a waste but it’s okay, I have two more bottles.
Hair is F R I E D.
Werqing that angle.
E E K. I took these photos after I rinsed the dye so that’s what it looks like without any conditioning, treatments, or Moroccan argan oil.
And here’s one last photo of Little Miss Freakie with her blue collar lounging on my blue yoga mat <3
The blue isn’t my favorite but it’s kinda growing on me. I might bring back the Violette next month.
