Singapore In Useless Pictures

Didn’t get to take a lot of pictures or do much this time around because I only had a couple of days (didn’t want to be away from LMF for too long!). I left Manila with two things on the agenda: go to Henderson Waves to camwhore with OFW Penny and buy shit on sale at Cotton On in Anchorpoint. Of the two, I only got to do the latter pft.

Friends and I had dinner at Song Fa Bak Kut Teh across MRT Clarke Quay/Central. It was my first time to try bak kut teh and OFW Jay described it as their version of our nilaga, but without the vegetables. I decided to go with the pig stomach version, instead of ~the classic pork ribs~. I may not have a drop of Chinese blood in me but I love innards!

song fa bak kut teh

My meal (pig stomach, rice, and homemade barley drink) cost me S$7.40 or ~PHP250. Kind of spendy for what could be carinderia food. It was just okay. Even the dough fritters were just okay. Would eat again, but for less!

Chanced upon a Japanese street performer at Clarke Quay.

Saw the OMG!FATTEST! cat while walking through Chinatown. It only slightly stirred in its sleep when I crouched down to say hello and scratch its ear.

Hee ♥

Chicken riiiiiice!

No trip to Singapore is complete without eating chicken rice (and a visit to Ikea for Swedish meatballs). This time, we went out of our way and headed to Maxwell Food Centre for Tian Tian (because Anthony Bourdain said so). Delicious and at S$3.50, I had two. However, I’ve had better chicken rice… in Hainanese Delights, of all places!

A bird also took a shit on me at Maxwell. No pictures of that.

Harry Potter the Exhibition!

I got suckered in (okay, so it didn’t take much persuasion) and paid S$6 for the audio guide. What a waste, lor! I didn’t really care for the commentary (plus there were too many) and I could have gotten a Chocolate Frog from the merch store instead.

Merch was also stupid expensive. I wanted a Hogwarts hoodie but it was S$75 (kids size was cheaper but the biggest wouldn’t fit me hehe) and it didn’t even have Hogwarts printed on the top of the hood. Tote bags were pricey, too, at S$40! Thankfully, I decided to be smart that day and kept my credit card in my wallet.

ROBYN aka the reason we went to Singapore!

No photos of the show because I had to surrender my dSLR but it was HA-MAY-ZENG. The crowd was a mix of old white folks and young azns and I was sat beside a group of gay dudes who knew all the words. I was dancing on my own (hrrrr) because my friends had different seats and I didn’t hear Tara call me when they moved to the fifth row :(

Prata set from Makansutra. I ordered this because OFW Penny told me that the cheese prata is super delicious, and I assumed all roti pratas came with cheese. They don’t. I had Nasi Lemak before this because I am a beast :D

And here’s a mediocre photo of the ArtScience Museum. Why can’t we have nice things like this?! After Robyn and Makansutra, we walked to Marina Bay Sands and hung out by the deck near Avalon to drink beer and LOL at Hadji Rietta’s tweets. I love how Singapore is so safe; as OFW Jay says— you can’t put a price on peace of mind!

See you again ~3 months, Singapore! I might actually visit the Merlion Park then.

Hey Helga, I just noticed your new layout, I think it’s adorable and totally matches your style!

Now back to the post, that street performer looks like he’s swallowing either a light saber or an absurdly long dildo. Still cool nonetheless.

    Whoa, fatty catty.

Helga, how did the IKEA meatballs go? Just did a case analysis on IKEA and I was curious about their swedish meatball shit. Hehehe

I was told they changed the recipe! I noticed it tasted different from the last time I had it (January this year). Kind of like Jollibee burger steak/burger patties. Still yummy but a bit unexpected.

If you have a friend going to Singapore, tell them to bring you home meatballs. You can buy them frozen na daw.

Bwahaha.. Jollibee?!?! If thats the case. I’d choose the CLASSIC Jollibee burger steak over the IKEA meatballs. Less hassle, less cost, more fun.
