My Skin Care Routine

My Skin Care Routine |

Real talk: I used to Photoshop the shit out of my skin because I had a serious case of meth face. Obviously, I am too cute and too classy (lol) to be addicted to ice. Joey just heard me complaining about my zits one day and turned to me and said: “faces of meth.”

Even though I used all sorts of anti-acne products, tried several home remedies and improved my diet and sleeping habits, my skin never completely cleared up. A couple of readers told me I needed to see a dermatologist but I’m stubborn. I am also too poor for Kiehl’s. Luckily, one of my online friends offered to send me stuff from her skin care store to test and they ended up working wonderfully for me.

I am a cocktail of bad habits: I smoke, drink, party and stay up all night.
I am on birth control.
I don’t wear thick makeup (I just like my blush, okay!).
I am indoors 80% of the time.
I have normal-oily skin.
This is not a sponsored post for Beauty Finds, though I did get my first batch of products (back in 2013) for free. I’ve been buying Beauty Finds exclusively since because it works for me!

Here’s what’s been part of my skin care regimen for the past 1-2 years:

My Skin Care Routine |

Makeup Remover

In Virgin Coconut Oil, I trust! We are so lucky to be living in the Philippines and having this bomb ass product easily available for cheapsies.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock – my favorite sunscreen because of its powdery dry finish.

Beauty Finds Holy Zit! – costs a fraction of Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion (which did nothing for me). It’s rare for me to get pimples now but when I do, I spot apply this twice a day and they’re gone in three days max.

I juggle three kinds of facial soap from Beauty Finds:

  1. Rosehips Don’t Lie – whitening and anti-ageing, which I use when I travel.
  2. Fair Enough 04 – extreme pore tightening, which I use in the morning.
  3. Oh My Sud! 13 – acne-healing with vitamin C, which I use at night.

Is my skin confused? I hope not because I also have a bar of Two Be Fair waiting to be opened.

And then I use whatever L’Oreal Men facial cleanser Joey has lying around when I stay with him on weekends. Joey’s skin is flawless, by the way; very Kutis Kristyano.

Beauty Finds Protecting Toner – an anti-bacterial solution for treating pimples/acne.

Beauty Finds Moringlow Serum – lightweight and non-greasy from Beauty Finds’ organic line. I love this, it’s like a long drink of water for my skin and doesn’t make my face feel like an oil slick. Contains pressed moringa leaves, bengkoang extract, argan oil, honey, and tomato extract.

Beauty Finds Girl, You Shine – daylight glow cream that’s supposedly mattifying but my oily face persists. I use this after moisturizing and before applying Little Miss Sunshine.

Beauty Finds Little Miss Sunshine – anti-acne and anti-ageing liquid foundation. Coverage is okay, which is exactly what I need now that I’m not trying to cover up my busted skin.

Night Cream

Beauty Finds Look Young, Feel Young – a collagen cream that I swear actually works??? I sometimes get lazy at night and don’t use this as religiously as I should but when I do, my skin looks super pretty.

Of course, my skin isn’t 100% smooth because I think I’d need some peeling products for that, which I’m a little iffy about. Being pimple-free is my #1 priority anyway, and these products helped me achieve that. Seriously, if you’re having acne problems, give Beauty Finds a try!

I tried Beauty finds too. Love their soap. Though I bought their mild to moderate acne set, I did not use it (fear of having reactions). I instead consulted a dermatologist, expensive but so definitely worth it! I’m now using prescription adapalene, Erythromycin (which I believe is the content of BF’s protecting toner), Benzoyl peroxide and Sorbolene.
I’m glad BF worked for you Helga! it’s hard to find products that will not react bad on your skin =)

I’ve seen you post about BeautyFinds in Instagram (?) and I was really curious to try. But I’m scared to mess with my skin right now. Your hair <3

I also don’t wear thick makeup because I’m not that good at putting makeup on. Haha! I only usually focus on my eyes and my lips because those are the features I love most. :) I used to wear blush/tint but I got tired of using it. I want to buy a new tint but I’m afraid it will give me pimples on my cheeks? Hahahaha! I’m so ignorant when it comes to these things. :))

I’ve never tried all of these products but I hope I’ll be able to buy and use them someday, if ever my skin care routine products won’t work anymore. xx

I cannot live without blush! I think you just need to clean your brushes regularly re: pimples :)

Never a fan of much make up. besides, its hot like hell now so I feel that all that gunk will just melt. Im weird like that. lols

Sometimes, blush and kilay are all you really need! And a lip gloss with SPF.

I have to start adding sunscreen to my routine!

    • Reply Helga May 1, 2015 at 2:54 pm

Beauty Finds sounds promising. Will look more into it and hopefully, I can find their products here. It’s hard cuz I have eczema and KP.

Hi Alissa! Right now, you can only order online. :) Check the Instagram account!

Hi Helga! Are the products affordable? I have oily skin and acne prone skin. Been experimenting with different products pero nothing works for me :(

Yes! The anti-acne kit is around 600, I think? :)
