Review: Safeguard Derma Sense Facial Cleanser

Safeguard Derma Sense |

It’s not only bleached hair that suffers the most in this summer heat; skin does too. When it comes to all things beauty, sweat is the enemy. I start feeling gross and sticky as early as 8AM, my hair turns dry like straw, make-up melts and slides off my face and pores get clogged, trapping in germs.

I already wrote about my skin care routine a couple of weeks ago but I took a break from my usual facial cleanser to try out a new product because if there’s one soap brand I trust, it’s Safeguard. Coincidentally, a handful of zits sprouted on my cheeks over the weekend which I chalk up to my giving up beef and pork. Thank goodness I’m old enough to not have a few pimples ruin my day! But I’m not gonna lie— I still feel ugly when I see them (ugly facially, because I know I am beautiful on the inside) so what better time to put Safeguard Derma Sense for Acne-Prone Skin to the test, right?

No make-up (ok just a lil blush to make me look human)

Safeguard Derma Sense promises long-lasting protection from germs (something that most beauty bars don’t) and contains salicylic acid (aka acne eaters). It is dermatologically tested to reduce and prevent mild to moderate acne by cleaning the skin surface and neutralizing acne-causing germs deep down in the pores.

Basically, it gives your pretty mug a good, deep cleaning so you can still have clear, beautiful skin in 35 degree Celsius weather. Do you know how many photos I took this morning? Nearly 40 and I only looked decent in, like, 5 of them because sweaty and pimply is not a good look. :(

Safeguard Derma Sense has two lines: for Acne-Prone Skin and for Sensitive Skin (perfect for Joey). I started using it last Sunday and I’m excited for results because these pimples need to go! Here’s my super simple Derma Sense cleansing regimen:

  • I wash my face twice a day (morning and before bed) with Safe Derma Sense for Acne-Prone Skin
  • I take my sweet time applying it in gentle, circular strokes and concentrating on the affected areas (my cheeks)
  • I then rinse really well

The facial cleanser has a bit of a strong scent that might put off some people but I personally love it because it smells like my mommy’s lotion. It’s also really mild! I always keep my eyes closed when massaging beauty soaps or other facial cleansers into my skin but Derma Sense doesn’t sting at all. It also leaves my face feeling soft and moisturized, which is great because I don’t like the squeaky clean, stripped-of-moisture effect most cleansers have.

Those with mild to moderate acne can expect to see improvements or results in as little as 4 weeks of using Derma Sense. I only have these 5 pesky zits on me so I’m confident and hopeful that they’ll be gone in a week or two. I’ll definitely be checking in to show my results! In the meantime, you guys can try Safeguard Derma Sense for yourselves. It’s available as bar soap, body wash, and facial cleanser.

When I moved to the US, I left most of my skincare products in the Philippines. Besides adding unnecessary weight to our already heavy baggage, I wanted to try out skincare line sold here in America. You know what’s ironic? I found my new Holy Grail products from The Body Shop! I may or may have hoarded a couple of items from our trip to the store, and I might blog about it soon. Long story short, I loved it!

    Gurl, give me your cheekbones!

It’s funny, I was thinking the other day that I need Safeguard. It’s getting pretty humid here in PA. I feel gross in the morning.

I never knew Safeguard has other stuff than their very popular bar soap. This is very intriguing ha!

I would actually try it since I don’t really have like a regular skin care routine (I just use whatever). My skin is not super bad from afar but if you look closely, hahahahaha it’s just ew
