Mermaid Hair with Manic Panic Enchanted Forest and Adore African Violet

My college friend, Katia, offered to send me some Manic Panic a few months ago and even though I was pretty set on going back to natural shades, I pounced on the chance to try Enchanted Forest. I’ve pretty much written off green dye after that one time I painted a chunk of my hair Crazy Color Pine Green but I still wanted to give it one last shot.

My hair looks like the ocean. :)

(Too bad my starfish clip broke.)

THE GOOD: Manic Panic Enchanted Forest is a beautiful jewel-toned green.

THE BAD: Photos fail to capture its true color, making it look teal instead. Seriously, it’s gorgeous in person. This is the closest, but it’s still not accurate.

Adore African Violet changes colors, too, depending on the light: sometimes it’s dark violet, sometimes it’s blue. I chose to use it on the top half of my head so it’ll fade to a silvery blurple.

(WHERE IS THE BEAUTIFUL EMERALD GREEN!!!)

I think this is my favorite hair color on me so far! I also like how I don’t have to bleach my roots because black re-growth doesn’t look so horrid with dark hair. It’s been 3.5 months since I last touched bleach and I’m trying to go at least another month without chemically processing my hair.

Will I ever achieve gray, granny hair? I’m giving it another try some time this year before I go back to natural colors.

I was too coward to dye my hair like how you do. As a fresh grad might not be hired if I had unique hair like you… It’s crazy but does it matter?

Hi Princess! It depends on where you’ll be working. I work in advertising and I’m a creative, so I can get away with it. I imagine if I had to interface with the client regularly, I wouldn’t be able to color my hair loud colors. :)

You look so good with mermaid here. I’m actually jealous that you get to do anything with it. I couldn’t because of work. And I’m quite scared to do drastic changes with my hair anyway. I hope one day, I will.

Wow, great colour! I don’t think I’m brave to dye my hair that colour…the most daring hair colour for me was “blonde” lol.

    • Reply Helga June 8, 2015 at 11:44 am

Blonde is pretty daring for Filipinas/Asians! :)

    • Reply Helga June 8, 2015 at 11:47 am

You can just color a strip of your hair if you’re not ready to do a full head! :)

You can dye just a strip of your hair first! :) Thanks, Roxanne.

Hi! Great blog you got here. I’m thinking of getting my hair dyed like yours (I’ve had dark, almost-midnight black, hair all my life and I badly want to try something fun with it now). It would be my first time ever to have my hair done. (I usually just get a haircut or a hot oil treatment. Never been rebonded or permed). I’m new to this, so I’m kinda hesitant to choose a salon that would NOT ruin my hair and would actually get the color I want right. I was just wondering if you can recommend a place or two around Metro Manila that could get the job done?

Thank you so much, and keep rocking those crazy colors! ;)

Hi GMT! I’m sorry, I do my own hair so I don’t have any name salons to recommend for bleaching. I tried Benefits once, but I’m not sure if they’re still around?
