Rusty and Restless

For the past few weeks, I have not been in the mood to blog, take photos, or do anything creative. Today, I think I figured out why: it’s because I don’t know what to do.

Actually, that’s not true. I do know what I want and I do know what to do. It’s just that I’ve been putzing around and putting it off. Yesterday, I woke up very late (right about the time I was due at the office) and groaned at the realization that it was only Wednesday. Despite having a full nine hours of sleep (crazy, huh? I totally blacked out!), I was still exhausted. I went about my usual routine (instead of hurrying along like other people would have) and on my second mug of milk tea, it hit me— I don’t wanna live with this crap anymore. My mind has been made up for months and I feel like I am finally ready to act.

The Year of The Hair: A 2011 Recap of Sorts

2009 was the year of my Project 365. 2010 was the year of my trying to get back into blogging. 2011 was the year of my hair.

My hair adventures will most likely continue until the day I die my youth dies (or when all my hair falls off) because there’s still a whole bunch of colors out there I haven’t tried. As soon as I get a little extra money (the first quarter of this year is going to be AMAZING but oh, how it burns my pockets), I’m putting in an order for some blue, green, and purple Special Effects dye. I can’t wait!

I’ve been meaning to recap all the hairstyles I had for 2011. I actually did it back in September, on my Tumblr, but I’d rather have a somewhat more comprehensive account of it here. If you regularly keep up with me on the internet (thank you, by the way :3), you’ve probably already seen these photos. Let us begin!

I started the year looking like this:

I absolutely loved this color on me and how it looked like my hair shone (the result of a DIY patchy bleach job).

Special Effects Cherry Bomb

HELLO, WORLD! I’M YOUR WILD GIRL! I’M YOUR CH-CH-CH

I wasn’t planning on dyeing my hair a different color any time soon because I really love being a pearly blonde. However, I can only have the same hairstyle for so long before I start jonesing for a change. Yesterday, I took out a bottle of Special Effects Cherry Bomb that I’ve had sitting in my kitchen cabinet (next to a list of Occupational Health & Safety Technician Jobs) for nearly nine months and took the plunge.

The Big Clean-Up

I have this terrible habit of never throwing out stuff. Like a lot of people, I am guilty of keeping products waaaay past their expiration date. I also have this problem with buying things on impulse and only using them a couple of times before forgetting about them. Even though I tend to stick to drugstore brands (aka relatively cheap stuff), it all piles up and ends up a waste of space and money.

Today, I decided to go through my drawers and throw out makeup and products I haven’t touched or used in a while. It wasn’t really hard but I found it silly how I would hesitate over parting with some of them. When I was done, this is what my trash bin looked like:

La Riche Directions: More Peach Than Pastel Pink

Some time last year, I ordered two 88ml jars of La Riche Directions hair dye in Pastel Pink and attempted to get pink tips. Unfortunately, it was my first (well, second) time bleaching my hair so I didn’t get a pale enough base for the light pink to show through.

It’s been a while and I’ve since learned how to get my hair a pale blonde. I still had a jar left and I didn’t want to put it to waste so I thought I’d go pastel pink after Halloween.

I wish I hadn’t.
