Helga, What Did You Do To Your Hair? aka Helga, You Have Japayuki Hair

If you follow me on Twitter or Tumblr, you’ll know that I bleached my hair blonde last night. This isn’t the first time I bleached my own hair as I had already done this three weeks ago (I think) and I left the bleach on for four hours (because I am hardcore). The point in all this is to get my hair light and white enough to dye the ends pink (please refer to the fourth photo in this entry).

My hair, yesterday afternoon:

Except it’s pretty hard to get the yellow/red out of dark hair and I could not find toner or purple shampoo ANYWHERE. Hortaleza/HBC (where I get hair bleach from) has this thing called Clear Tone but it wasn’t available at the branches I went to. I thought that maybe bleaching my hair twice would work. It won’t and didn’t.

The pastel pink La Riche Directions semi-permanent conditioning hair color that I bought from ebay (came all the way from UK or something) didn’t work, either.

How to trim bangs

I woke up yesterday morning to find a quick email from my boyfriend with this attached (plus a link to where I can buy buy acne solutions) and a note that says “thought you might find this useful lol.” Obviously, he is laughing at me because I do a disastrous job of trimming my own bangs and thinks I need guidance from the hair gurus over at seventeen.com. Well, he’s right.

I just thought I’d share this here. I know there’s a wealth of information out there on how to trim your bangs but look— cute illustrations! Click the image to enlarge.

Missing Clothes, A Cat, A Necklace, and Hair

Have you ever had clothes stolen? It’s annoying. You see, most of my laundry goes to my folks’s place to be washed every weekend. The laundry is hung to dry out in the carport which is kept closed by a flimsy gate and a lock. Not far from our street (in Valley View) is a “squatter’s area” (I’ve actually never been in there but that’s where our laundry woman lives). They’ve stolen some of my dad’s/brother’s clothes before and they’ve started taking mine now =/

I have a lot of clothes (more than I can wear, really) but I always know when something is missing from my closet. I know it shouldn’t bother me so much because save for one top, most of them were thrifted… but I can’t help it! I’ve tried to let it go and be okay with it but it ticks me off all over again when I’m getting ready/dressed to go out.

I was looking for one of my favorite tops this morning (to wear to work) and I realized that I haven’t seen it since the last time I wore it some two months ago. Stolen, again =(

(Oh, well, at least I didn’t lose a PS3.)

Anyway, to keep my mind off that (sorta):

Revlon Colorskilk 72 Strawberry Blonde + Black and Gray

My roots were starting to show so I went to Watson’s last night to grab a box of my usual hair color (Toasted Anise or Zen Auburn— which I can no longer seem to find— by Kolours). I was ready to head to the counter to pay when I saw this:

Hey, Red

Because I am a cheapskate, I dye my own hair. I don’t do a particularly good job (as I’m probably the only employed girl in this city who doesn’t own a comb (to properly apply the hair dye) and sometimes, an old toothbrush is nowhere to be found) but I’d rather grab a box of cheapy dye (I used to switch brands with every re-dye but I now stick to Kolours which is a little over 200 pesos a box and available in my neighborhood ghetto grocery), spend an hour in my living room with a plastic cap (or bag!) over my head, and smoke and dick around the internets while waiting for the color to set than spend close to two thousand pesos for a professional to do it for me (I’d rather that money go to weight loss pills, tyvm).

I’m cheap, I tell ya. Besides, it’s just hair.

My roots have been bothering me for a couple of weeks now and I finally found the time to recolor the growth last night. This color’s called Zen Auburn and all I could do was giggle at myself when I saw how orange it was last night, after rinsing. Gladly, the color looks a bit better today, if not a little too red for my liking. I really wanted to just go a lighter shade of brown but Zen Auburn was new (and I never use the same color twice in a row).
