I haven’t done a list of things I love in a while and I guess it’s a good thing I discovered something new today that I absolutely loved or else I would have forgotten about this little blog category of mine.

Ok, so it’s not really a new discovery since I got it at the supermarket a couple of weekends ago and I just kept forgetting that it was sitting in my *fridge: Tipco Broccoli/Vegetable juice!

It’s delicious, I tell you! It’s a mix of broccoli, kiwi, tomato, pineapple, and a few other things I don’t remember so it doesn’t taste like broccoli (which is pretty yummy to begin with, anyway) at all.

iWhite products.

Pictured: Whitening Pack (peel-off mask that’s good for whiteheads, blackheads, and pimples), Skin Whitening Vita Facial Cream (I use this on top of my moisturizer as makeup base), and Skin Whitening Vita Aqua Moisturizing Cream (light and oil-free moisturizer that smells nice and clean). Two are in sachets because I bought them last Friday to sample (just to see if they’re good with my skin). I loved both and I’ll be going back to get them in tubes.

I’m really not into skin whitening because the last thing I want is my face to be lighter than my neck and the rest of my body. I’m not worried much, though, because I’m not one to shy away from sunshine so whatever whitening effect they have will be canceled by that… I guess. Heh.

My floral high-waist blue skirt. I got this some time ago and just had them hemmed. I’m actually wearing the back side front in these photos (there are front pockets) because I like having the detail in front better. Wow, I said “front” thrice in a sentence.

The skirt needs more work and by that, I mean my waistline needs more work and the best diet pill. #Neurotic #SkinnyComplex #BodyIssues

My friends! Klassy threw a birthday party for her husband, Eric, last Saturday and we had a wonderful time eating Indian food (it was my first time to try gulab jamun and it was GLORIOUS), drinking Stella Artois (I wish all bars here served Stella; I like it better than San Miguel Light), wine, and cocktails (I sufficiently got hammered on this tamarind-flavored drink, but in a non-messy way), playing Rock Band, and catching up.

From L-R: Sanya, Klassy, me, and Sam. Shauna is once again missing from the photo as she had to leave early because she was feeling a little sick.

*note to self: you have two-weekish old pears and guapples in the fridge, too.

1) Clear skin. Like, beautiful, flawless, radiant clear skin. My skin is depressing.
2) Predators! Well, I don’t want Predators; rather, I want to watch Predators. It opens tomorrow and some friends and I are going to see it this weekend. I am excited!
3) A flat/ter tummy. I miss the days when I didn’t have to worry about keeping my midsection in shape =/
4) Cold/er weather. It’s July in the tropics but it still feels like summer.
5) White tights/white fishnets.
6) A bottle of nuphedragen hehe.
7) Better body image. I’m a bit worried, though, that once I’m fully-comfortable in my own skin, I’d let myself go and get fat. Am I crazy for feeling/thinking this?
8) More pretty dresses!
9) More shoes!

I can’t shop ’til end of July/August, though. I haven’t even paid my credit card bill (it was due, uh, early this month) because my money sent from Xoom won’t be here ’til the 9th. SIX DAYS (it was sent on the 3rd)! Imagine that.

As someone who’s been taking the MRT on a daily basis since lawd knows when, you’d think I’d have developed a high tolerance for stupidity and inconsiderate people by now. I’d like to think I’m a pretty decent commuter: I walk fast, I stay out of the way, I don’t wave my arms, hair, or bag around, I don’t push or shove (unless you’re standing in my way, texting smack in the middle of foot traffic heh), and I don’t cut lines. I only misbehave when I retaliate i.e. some chick insists on pushing when there’s absolutely no reason to. It’s not very nice but it’s my reflexes working and it feels pretty damn good when I put a bitch in place. Most of time, though, I just fume silently and/or tweet about it.

When taking public transportation, I really try my best not to be affected by the people around me. Rushing to work is stressful as it is, I don’t need getting myself all worked up over strangers. Sometimes, it’s hard not to get annoyed especially at (yes, I have a list. I like lists):

1) Men who ride in the train’s first car. I know this is a sexist rule (only females, senior citizens*, handicapped folks, and men with children can ride in the first car) but I like it because I don’t have to worry about getting groped etc.

Anyway, everyone knows about this rule. If it’s your first time riding the MRT and you’re a dude and have no knowledge of this rule, you will see signs reading “<-- DOON PO ANG LALAKI" on the chain rails on the platform (next to the humidifier filters. Oh wait, not in the Philippines). If you happen to not see the sign/s, you’ll find yourself sticking out like a sore thumb in a crowd of women while all the other dudes are NOT WHERE YOU ARE.

So how is it that some men are still completely oblivious to all these and feign ignorance when security guards shoo them away? This morning, two guys shoved past a bunch women into the train and the guard caught them too late. I had my iPod on, blasting Yeah Yeah Yeahs so I couldn’t make out the conversation but judging by the expression on the two guys’s faces, they weren’t too keen on exiting. Worse, they were blocking the way. When the guard finally got them to GTFO, the train doors were closing and the rest of us had to wait for the next train.

I wanted to punch them.

*I have an issue with male senior citizens because one time, this lolo spent the entire train ride with his crotch stuck to me while he stared at my chest. It was very uncomfortable (obvs) and the train was packed. Sure, they’re old, but they’re still men. I’ve also seen old men run through closing train doors and shoulder women out of the way.

2) People who cut lines. A lady in her 40s/50s cut the line this morning and all I could think was “Ang tanda tanda mo na, hindi ka pa din marunong pumila.” It was pretty comical, though. I was in line and I saw her as she shuffled over from the ticket windows, looked at the line/us, shuffled towards the back, shuffled back to the front, and inserted herself there.

2.1) People who have the nerve to get mad when you don’t let them cut lines. Wipe that scowl off your face.

3) People/ladies who shove you out of the way just so they can sit on the train. Whenever a train pulls up the platform and there are seats available, I DREAD IT because I know all these chicks are going to push and shove and fight and run for a seat. It’s ridiculous.

4) People who stand by the train doors and don’t move out of the way at stops, especially during rush hour and the train is packed. How do they expect people to exit properly? Move to the side or step out for a bit (you’ll still have your space in the train, really)— just get out the way.

That’s about it (for now, I guess). Just thinking about these people irritates me, ugh.

(I’m not claiming to be an interesting person but I need ten more entries within the next four days, heh. Lists are easy and so am I! Wait, no.)

1) I have ugly feet. On good days/at best, they’re hideous. On ugly days, they can be likened to troll feet. They’re bony and veiny and oddly-shaped. I like keeping them hidden.

Please do not look at my feet to verify this when we see each other. I can tell when someone is checking out my feet and I act react accordingly (hide my feet or cover your eyes).

2) I am pimply. Not acne-ridden, just pimply. I always have the occasional three to five pimples scattered around my face; two or three have taken up permanent residency on my chin area (I googled this and found out that chimples are usually caused by hormones?). It gets worse when I’m nearing my dot.

My goal this month is to rid myself of these pesky things. I smoke, I drink (alcohol + caffeine), I have an average diet, I sleep very late, I drink at least four liters of water a day. I know what I’m doing wrong, don’t worry.

3) I am a glutton. I have a big appetite and can very much out-eat a man twice my size. When home, I have to discipline myself not to overeat.

4) I am easily distracted and tend to tab back and forth random, unrelated things. My current open tabs (of the non-Facebook/Twitter/etc variety): Branson vacations, Six Super Helpful Typography Cheat Sheets, and Jackson Pollock.

5) I cry a lot. But never in front of you.

Like my list of categories isn’t random and unorganized enough (one of these days, I will do something about them), here I am creating a new one. This has potential to make sense, though, so I’m not very worried about adding to the clutter.

This June, I hope to lose weight/get into shape/stay fit. It’s ridiculous how much my midsection disgusts me and I am not being cute when I say that. I snapped a couple of photos this morning but I’m going to keep those to myself until I have acceptable “after” photos of my tummy. My metabolism isn’t the same anymore (plus all those years of guzzling down beer is catching up on me) so I have to be really careful. I’ve been working out daily for… well, the last two nights which isn’t a feat of any sort but it’s a start.

My goal for this month is to get back to 110 pounds. I weighed myself mid-May and was sad to see that I was 117 pounds. I vowed to lose those 7 pounds but I got lazy and had too much fun with beer and food. My weight today? Still 117.

I’ve also been reading up on how to boost my metabolism. Most of it are things I already know (yet don’t do) like eat breakfast, eat several small meals throughout the day etc etc. The fun ways to boost my metabolism: drink more green tea (except I don’t like regular green tea because it’s bitter and the flavored green tea brands in the market are sugar bombs) and eat more yogurt.

I also hope to eat a little healthily this month. This is going to be tough considering I am totally jonesing for McDonald’s (I blame the intern who had McD’s in the pantry a coupla hours ago) and some cake right now. I’m definitely not going to deprive myself of the “bad” stuff but I will TRY. Maybe I should start taking vitamin supplements, too? Anyway, I had steamed chicken breasts (that turned out to be delicious!) on red rice for lunch today so that’s a start (yay, me! Two starts!).

Just those two little goals for June. Other things I am looking forward to this month:
1) getting my second tattoo (tomorrow!)
2) Hanson’s fifth studio album, Shout It Out (June 8th)
3) getting paid (well, duh)
4) Eclipse!

A random photo to add ~life~ to his blog entry:

Wish me luck!

Judging by the last few rainy days, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that the torturously hot El Niño months are finally behind us (and by us, I mean the Philippines). It’s La Niña this year, though, (according to PAGASA) and while never ending rainy days generally suck, I’m just (selfishly) happy that it’s cold enough again to cover myself in a blanket while I sleep.

Anyway, a list of things I love about this weather:

1) Bad weather is bed weather. Getting out of my bed/getting off my mattress has been a challenge this past few days making me start my mornings really really late. It’s all right, though, because without the heat to make me hate everything and everyone, I go about my morning routine faster. Plus, the cold has me in a good mood!

2) It’s cold enough for boots. And to “celebrate” this, guess who got a pair of new boots? This guy.

I hope to get them on Friday or Monday. I’ll still need a pair of rain boots, though. I’ll need to hit up the hardware store one of these days for plain black ones.

3). The rain gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling. I can’t explain it but the rain makes me really happy and giddy. Perhaps it’s because I can be a lazy kitty who equates rainy days = bed days.

4) Perfect weather for hot soup, hot coffee, cuddling, and hugging. <3

5) I can wear warm clothes again. Most of my wardrobe consists of long-sleeved tops and jackets. I can finally bring them out of their temporary retirement!

What about you guys? What do you love about this kind of weather?

1) Lists. Lists are easy and, when you have enough things to list down, makes for a passable blog entry. I’m lazy these days and prefer to no longer write extensively about my thoughts and how I feel, online. I feel like there’s enough of me and how my mind operates out there and that maybe it’s about time to hold back a little.

Orrr maybe I’ve just become boring. That must be it.

2) Kitties! And my pops, of course. They’re very adorable.

3) Milo, or any chocolate drink for that matter. A cold glass of it keeps me full for a few hours after lunch, tiding me over ’til dinner time. I know it’s kind of fattening so I have to keep myself from chugging down more than a glass and maybe only drink it every other day.

4) The internet! Where else can I read about prenatal vitamins at 3 in the morning?

5) Hootsuite.com. My Echofon for Firefox stopped working when I updated to the latest version some weeks ago (even after uninstalling and re-installing it) and I’m too lazy to get Tweetdeck working so I’ve been using this browser-based Twitter client. I quite like it.

In less than a month (twenty-six days, to be exact), I turn 25. I must admit: it’s a little frightening. For reasons <del>I no longer remember</del> that are too stupid and embarrassing to share, I used to look forward to turning a year older. …All right all right, I will tell you why: once upon a time (meaning, back in college aka when I didn’t know better), there was this guy. He was maybe five or six years my senior and— not to bore you with old drama— he made me feel inadequate for being young(er). That whole thing with guy didn’t work out (obviously and thank gawd) and now I am in a *sparkle* relationship *sparkle* with a guy who is twelve years older than me and he makes me feel like the most special kitty in the world.

SO I AM TURNING 25 and I am feeling… the age. At 25, I can no longer join beauty contests (I’m not saying that I can or will) or audition for certain things (last week, I found myself outside a band rehearsal studio at Annapolis in Cubao. There was a sign looking for female band members within the 18-24 age range) or qualify for certain jobs (uh, receptionist? Secretary? Oh, what do I know). These are the unimportant things that send me into little fits of internal panic. How very unnecessary.

Now as much as I would like to expound on this fear and talk about my feelings! my emotions! mah h0pez & mah dreamz!, I’d rather take the ditzy route and list down a bunch of crap I feel I would need “to give meaning to my 25 years of existence” aka STUFF HELGA WANTS (and will probably get for herself) FOR HER BIRTHDAY. No, lots of beer and lots of vodka are not in the list; what am I, in high school?

The list (25 for 25):
1. Crest Whitestrips (Classic or Pro). I’m all out and I keep worrying my teeth are going to turn a disgusting shade of yellow.
2. Roman candles
3. A blonde wig
4. A fisheye lens attachment
5. Two or three (or more!) new pairs of shoes
6. Chocolate chip oatmeal cookies
7. Nars Orgasm
8. Mac Viva Glam Gaga
9. Cake!
10. More non-prescription, hipster glasses
11. A Hannah Montana sleeping shirt
12. A jump rope
13. A yoga mat
14. White retro roller skates
15. Pink laces for #14
16. A kitty mask
17. Pancakes!
18. All of John Lloyd’s Greenwich commercials in my iPod
19. A second tattoo
20. Best term life insurance quote. LOLQUE.
21. Vintage-cut/retro-cut bathing suit
22. Flowers
23. Floral rubber boots
24. White lace tights
25. A bowler hat

Next year, I propose that I drink every day for the entire month of May.

He doesn’t have to worry but you have to admit, I make a pretty wicked cute hipsterling (a baby hipster? A hipster n00b?):

(I’m never gonna have not red hair ever again. Blonde is an exception.)

Moving on: I just got back from a too-short vacation! Three days and two nights (plus the third night spent on the road, very much intoxicated) at the beach getting my drunk on. It was fantastic.

Anyway (awkward transition between blog topics is awkward), here’s a list of things I will never regret doing (someone needs four blog entries in two days and that someone is me, hurray!):

1) Dyeing my hair red.
2) Having that one last hotdog.
3) Drinking water before sleeping.
4) Peeing before leaving the house.
5) Being helpful to someone I don’t particularly like.
6) Taking public transportation to work instead of cabbing it.
7) Getting an insurance quote.
8) Writing things down.
9) Taking too many photos (I will whine about all the sorting and editing I’ll have to do but y’all know I love it).
10) Working out.
11) Giving my mom a hug!
12) Extra rice (like #9, I’ll whine about it but deep inside, I’m all “GIVE ME MORE CARBS!”).
13) Stopping after the fourth bottle of beer.
14) Waking up early/sleeping early.

What about you d00dz? What are things you don’t regret doing?

From The New York Times’s The Minimalist: Summer Express: 101 Simple Meals Ready in 10 Minutes or Less. I’m not much of a cook so this is a really nice read for me. Quick, easy, and healthy meals.

Asylum’s Smart Women Are Bigger Drinkers. Ha ha ha. Hear that, dad? Mom? Boyfriend? I’m kidding, I’m not entirely sold on this new study/phenomenon.

There are two explanations the researchers offered for this phenomenon. One is that brainy women often delay motherhood, giving them more time to develop a social life based on alcohol consumption; the other is that higher-achieving females are more likely to work in male-dominated fields, which have cultures that are heavy on drinking.

Asylum’s You Got Us, Internet— Our April Fools’ Day Web Prank Roundup. Just a list of e-tomfoolery that took place last Tuesday. Tuesday was a holiday here and I spent most of it offline (in my couch watching CSI, what else is new?) so I missed out on the fun. Did any of you fall for any internet pranks?

J’s list of Best Fashion Trends for Summer 2010: hot pants, wedges, blazers, and florals. Just this morning, I cut up an old pair of jeans and turned it into a pair of super short shorts. I’ve also given my pumps a rest in favor of wedges (much easier to walk in). Florals (especially granny florals) are already a favorite. Unfortunately, it’s too hot in the Philippines for blazers (or clothes, for that matter). I don’t know why I’m saying all this haha.

What is the best acne cream? LOLOLOLOLOL. The summer heat is doing funny stuff to my skin, making it super oily (I have normal skin). I keep breaking out! I bought a bar of acne soap yesterday (Defensil. I picked it out because they used the Diavlo typeface on the packaging). I hope it takes care of my forehead zits.

Sleeptrip’s 300 Love Letters. The entire Sleeptrip site, really. Not gonna lie: it appeals to a sentimental side of me.
