AKA a bunch of ~New Year’s Resolutions~ I may or may not keep because I may or may not be a believer of resolutions.
1. Go blonde. Or at least get blonde highlights. The boyfriend replied with a violent NO! when I told him this. Someone’s just gotta deal.
2. Eliminate one kind of meat from my diet. Fish does not count (I barely eat fish anyway plus I can never live without sashimi/sushi), I’m never going to cut out chicken, pork is too accessible… so. Beef it is. Bye bye beef, 2010.
3. That said, only eat chicken hot dogs.
4. Stop obsessing about my weight. It seems like every damn year, I aim to lose weight/whittle my weight down to 105 pounds. I’m turning 25 this year and that has got to stop. Ever since the boyfriend and I got together, I’ve become more appreciative of my body but I still have days when I could pass for someone with BDD. Enough.
5. Take more photos and put to good use the camera I won from fizzer.ph aka Baby Girl. A few photos I’ve taken:

LOLJK, I didn’t take that last one.
I’m learning, I’m learning.
6. Blog more here. I’m on Tumblr everyday because it’s easier to clutter that place with short, random, and stupid stuff. Now that I’m done with my Project365, maybe I’ll have time to get back to blogging.
7. I will spend more time with my family. I had such a blast with them over the holidays and I just realized how much I missed all my relatives. I barely saw any of them the past couple of years, always feigning being too busy whenever one of them had a birthday or a party (I was really just nursing a very bad hangover from the previous night and couldn’t be bothered to shower, get dressed, and travel from Point A to Point B only to get drunk again). That’s gotta change.
8. Stop biting my nails. Very unlikely.
9. Stop coming to work hungover. This roughly translates to: stop drinking so much on weeknights.
10. Learn to cook at least one soupy dish. I’m thinking tinola.
11. Wear slippers during the commute to work. Save my feet and my pretty shoesies the stress since I walk A LOT (and barely wear sneakers). Perhaps not everyday, just every now and then.
12. Work out once a week. I used to be able to work out 3-5 times a week and it’s true that once you stop and break your momentum, it gets harder to get back into it. I usually work out when I get home from work at night (I’m too bleary in the morning) which is pretty late so maybe I can work out on weekends. I’m just blabbering here (so I won’t forget) because I’m the only one who reads everything written in this blog. Kohler faucets are pretty.
13. Start my days earlier. THIS IS NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE TO DO but I’m putting this here anyway. No pressure, Helga. Really.
14. Save up for something big. I don’t even know what, but it’s nice to have a goal, no matter how hazy-bordering-on-unknown lol.

If anything, 2009 gave us good music. This here is (obviously) a list of my favorite tracks from last year. I wish I could put them all in a zip file for you to download and listen to while you hit the treadmills (hrhrhr) or are on your way to work but meh, I’m lazy.
10) The Joy Formidable – The Greatest Light Is The Greatest Shade
From A Balloon Called Moaning (which according to the band’s Wiki page was released in Japan in December 2008 but was released again in 2009), this song is #7 in my top tracks on lastfm. Harsh and sometimes grating, yet dreamy and hypnotizing. I don’t know how they do it.
9) Dirty Projectors – Temecula Sunrise
Okay, so maybe Stillness Is The Move is the Dirty Projectors song and so maybe their collab with David Byrne, Knotty Pine (from Dark Was The Night), is unbelievably cute and happy and catchy but Temecula Sunrise wins me over because it is pure chaos. When I first heard this, I switched to my music player, checked the title, and thought to myself “What the hell is up with this song?” Keeee <3
8) Death Cab for Cutie – My Mirror Speaks
Oh, Ben. Oh, The Open Door EP.
2009 was a strange strange year for me, with some aspects in my life (parts that I hold dearly) gone haywire. I did not turn to My Mirror Speaks for comfort; I listened to remind myself of what kind of person I do not want to be:
Cause I’m a man who hides from all that binds
In a mess of fading lines
And there’s a tangled thread inside my head
With nothing on either end
I always fall in love with an open door
Or the horizon on an endless sea
Nah-uh, do not want to be like that.
7) Passion Pit – The Reeling
Manners is just so darn fun to listen to! If I recall correctly, I have at least four photos in my Project 365 set titled after Passion Pit songs: The Reeling, Little Secrets, Make Light, and To Kingdom Come. I pick The Reeling because aside from being the first song of theirs I heard and having the most plays in my iTunes library, it’s also deep and shit.
LOL.
(I particularly prefer the Miike Snow remix).
6) Think About Life – Nueva Nueva
Thank you, Canada, for Think About Life! I think more people should listen to them because they are unequivocally excellent. Nueva Nueva (which I find both uplifting and calming) is my favorite song to listen to while walking home at night, after work. Sweet Sixteen is a second favorite from their 2009 album, Family.
5) Grizzly Bear – Foreground
Veckatimest was one of my most anticipated albums of 2009 and while each and every song from it is hauntingly beautiful (I initially gravitated towards Cheerleader, as I found the beat sexy), Foreground gives me goosebumps.
4) Metric – Help I’m Alive
Everytime I listen to this song, I have the urge to get on my feet, jump around, and dance badassedly. It’s also very very quotable; I don’t know how many times I’ve had to stop myself from tweeting “Help I’m alive, my heart keeps beating like a hammer” over and over again.
3) Animal Collective – My Girls
I get the hugest girlboner for Merriweather Post Pavilion (I bet my bottom dollar it’s on everyone’s Top 10/20 Albums of 2009 lists) and it was hard picking a favorite track off MPP (Summertime Clothes and Brother Sport are a couple of other superfaves). But because My Girls has the awesommest hook in the history of musics (I don’t mean to seem like I care about material things like a social status / I just want four walls and adobe slabs for my girls *insert animalish woop! in the background here*), I pick this.
2) Neko Case – This Tornado Loves You
This song just blows me away.
1) Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Hysteric
It’s like a sobering lullaby, the chorus being words I would whisper into the lover’s ear right before falling asleep.

I got this from Alex who got it from another friend of hers. I have been meaning to write this list for a couple of weeks now, hoping for some help from the boyfriend (lord knows I find excuses for my flaws that I am aware of) but he apparently can’t think of five reasons not to date me. Or perhaps his ignoring my question was just his way of not breaking me like a stack of dainty glass tiles, heh. Anyhoots:
1. I am incredibly needy and clingy, like Bella Cullen. Oh yes, I just compared myself to one of the most annoying characters to have ever been written. It’s all true, too.
2. I smoke and drink a lot and it’s going to be a hard habit to quit (which I will get around to, eventually. I’ve managed to cut down a little on both, though, so yay me). I say this because the boyfriend doesn’t smoke and only drinks occasionally. If he didn’t love me, I’d say this would make me undateable to him hrhrhrhr.
3. I am very visible online. But then, if you’re not okay with me blogging about you, I wouldn’t want to date you.
4. I don’t go to church, I avoid family gatherings, I sometimes hold kittens in higher regard than some/most humans. And I know this is such an overused adjective, but I am kinda very moody. Sometimes, it feels like perpetual PMS.
5. I have crazy friends.

1. Four-day work weeks and long weekends. Like this week! We got November 30th off to celebrate Bonifacio Day (so I had a good Monday, which is is an oxymoron) and I spent it lazing about the apartment, watching old CSI: Las Vegas episodes, and getting fat on chocolate truffle ice cream.
2. Twilight. I will not be judged! I’m a few years late but I finally hopped on the Twilight fanwagon, all because of this guy:

Taylor Lautner, how in the world are you only 17?! Robert Pattinson is pretty hot, too.
3. Latte Land. Here I am again with the Facebook apps, heh. Having temporarily quit Cafe World because of its numerous bugs (can’t redecorate or use my new stove) and because it crashes my Firefox (please do not tell me to switch to Chrome), I’m glad I found a text/javascript-based app that keeps me entertained (like Mafia Wars!).

When you spend close to nine hours in front of a computer, you kind of need these things to keep you from wrecking all office electronics you can get your hands on.
4. The cold. Philippine weather is finally season- and Christmas-appropriate and the nippy nights make me so giddy. I also love how Ortigas Center (where I work) and Cubao (where I live) have turned into Bokeh Wonderland with all the pretty fairy lights. Now if only it would snow this part of the world. I can always Photoshop, of course:

LOL.

Some time ago, I posted a stupid Christmas wishlist. Though I seriously do want a pink typewriter (or any typewriter, for that matter, so long as it clacks noisily, dings loudly and so long as it works), I must say I can do without the others I wrote in there. Now that Christmas is a little over a month away, I thought I’d write down a few things that I would be more than joyful to receive (nevermind that there is only one person out there who would actually bother ♥). This list is devoid of wishful thinking (i.e. a dSLR, a Wii, a new laptop).
1. The gift of Hanson, preferably the Strong Enough to Break DVD and/or Middle of Nowhere Acoustic. I will not like (but will still accept LOL, maybe) pirated copies as I love these boys dearly and feel terrible “stealing” from them.

2. The gift of Hannah Montana. I am serious. I would like stickers, a lunch box, a cardboard cutout etc etc. Anything with Miley/Hannah, better if it’s pink and sparkly.
3. Rosaries. I am not Catholic, I do not pray, the last time I went to mass was at my junior year college retreat, and I never learned how to do the whole rosary thing. But I want rosaries, the none glow-in-the-dark-green kind, and lots of it.
4. A very large world map, larger than the width of my outstretched arms.

5. Animal masks and/or animal head pieces. The lion head piece belongs to a boy named David, he says he got it from Toy Kingdom. When, I do not know. This year, I hope.

6. A book on origami + origami paper and yarn or rope.
7. All the listed recordings of Bewitched, Bothered And Bewildered. I already have Celine Dion’s and Silje Nergaard’s. I do not like Rufus Wainwright’s version =/
8. A drawing of a child holding a colorless balloon while walking his pet crocodile down the street.
9. A beret/beanie/skullie in red or bright blue! Knitted and very cute, of course.
10. A Dr Seuss book. Any would do, better if secondhand/pre-owned with a stranger-child’s scribbles all over. My favorite is Happy Birthday To You! which my dad got for my ninth (I think) birthday. I loved that book to bits, it felt bigger than my little girl self.

11. All the liempo I can eat (and more). I admit, I am kind of starving as I type this and this is merely my hunger speaking. Liempo is always welcome, though.
12. You, you, YOU. Christmas and New Year’s with you.
♥
