A while ago, I blogged about how my skin type changed from normal to oily without my noticing. For a time, I was misguided and started skipping moisturizer and using harsh soaps on my face to strip off all the oil, thinking that that was the reason behind my overactive sebaceous glands. Obviously, this was a mistake and you should never ever do that! My skin was dehydrated and producing more oil to make up for it. I finally smartened up, started using a water-based moisturizer, and switched to makeup meant for oily skin… and what a difference it made! On a good day, I can last without having to blot at all.

Last week, I attended the launch of Mega We Care‘s Nourishing Night Oil at Blue Water Day Spa in Ortigas Avenue. There are a few of things I like about having pink (or any unnatural/loud/non-Asian color) hair. It’s different. In a nation where the majority of the population are too scared to go beyond black or brown, I stand out. Friends have no trouble picking me out in a crowd (works well in airports) or from a distance and cameramen tend to gravitate towards my head. Like, I’m pretty sure those dudes from Myx or ASAP covering a show would have no interest in getting my opinion to broadcast on national television if I didn’t have pink hair, ya know?

I was 19 when I first saw Hanson. The best seats we could get cost a little over 3000PHP— money that I, a college student relying on mommy’s wallet, didn’t have. I didn’t want to ask my mom for money for Hanson so what did I do? I took the money meant for my college course’s team building seminar, met up with my friends at Araneta’s ticketing booth first thing in the morning, and used it to buy a fifth row ticket (rows 1 to 4 weren’t for sale).

Obviously, if money wasn’t a problem then, it wasn’t going to be an issue now. When we got confirmation from Yam (who works for Dayly Entertainment, if you haven’t figured that out yet) that they’d be playing a second show in Cebu, I wasted no time booking flights for me and Sanya.

Last Friday (March 30) was phenomenal because I went to two Hanson shows: a fan club Members-Only Event (best $40 I’ve ever spent) and the big show itself. I woke up to rain fallin’ down outta— no? No quoting Hanson songs? So I woke up and it was raining and I said to the skies: “Nah-uh, Mother Nature, no.” I put on my specially picked out, super fancy 65PHP concert dress (that’s less than USD2 for non-Filipinos and yes, I’m being sarcastic) and bent forward in the mirror to see if my ass would hang out; it did so I put on some shorts. I raised my arms, twirled my right hand— index finger pointed— around (practicing for Where’s The Love, yehehehes), and tested to see if the top would stay in place. It did. I was ready.
